As I write this, people throughout the world are commemorating the third anniversary of the October 7 attacks, carried out mainly by Hamas paramilitaries, along with other jihadist groups, on civilians in Southern Israel. 1,200 were slaughtered, many in front of their family members. 251 were kidnapped, most of whom were killed in captivity. The actions of this day—the worst day in Jewish history since the end of World War Two—caused the war between Hamas and the IDF, with over 40,000 civilian casualties, simultaneously marking “the most disastrous day in Palestinian history”, according to Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib.
When the anti-Israel propaganda movie NAZA was shown in a theater in Delft in the Netherlands, a woman stepped up in front of the audience and said, “My name is Sabine Tassa. I survived October 7. I came here from Israel to tell the truth”. She said that her son and husband were killed on October 7. The audience naturally shouted her down, yelling “Shame on you” and “We don’t care”.
This is the whole point. WE DON’T CARE about what caused the Gaza war in the first place. For the Western anti-Israel coalition of half-wits and true believers that calls itself “pro-Palestine”, Jewish suffering did not only not take place—they claim to have a prerogative on that day (“Don’t Let Israel Steal The Day” is the title of an event on October 7, 2026, in Sydney, Australia). To them, the killing and the suffering of Israelis were both an expression of liberation and resistance and an irrelevant foreplay to what they claim is the “genocide” of Palestinians.
To the Western Left, the killing and the suffering of Israelis were both an expression of liberation and resistance and an irrelevant foreplay to what they claim is the “genocide” of Palestinians.
After three years, I have well understood that the keffiyeh-wearing Sturmabteilung of the new Left’s Omnicause does not care about dead Jews (in contrast to Dara Horn’s “People Love Dead Jews”, which I’m no longer sure about). The “Free free Palestine” slogan has now become a new greeting among US university students, said with the conviction of “Two decaf fat-free pumpkin spice lattes, please”. They know it only to mean something against Israel, which they associate with bad words they cannot define. For the Western “resistance” and its Islamist allies do not really care about Palestinians either. They care about showing “Zionists” their place—if necessary or possible, with the exhilarating arousal that violence provides. And this is all that “Free Palestine” means today.
The shout of “Free Palestine” has accompanied the shooting and killing of a New York Jewish couple. “Free Palestine” has celebrated the shooting at an Australian beach that left fifteen people dead. “Free Palestine” has firebombed synagogues. “Free Palestine” has driven a car into a Jewish kindergarten. “Free Palestine” has rejected Jewish customers in shops. “Free Palestine” has cancelled events at which Jewish performers were supposed to play, or Jewish and Israeli movies were supposed to be shown. “Free Palestine” is the foremost expression of Jew hatred, and that is all there is to it.

The woman in the Dutch movie theater was kept alive by Palestinian terrorists to live through the torture of suffering the death of her son and husband. Many family members were kept alive for that reason: to inflict as much pain as possible.
And in just the same way, the anti-Israel movement is there to inflict pain. It helps no one. It supports no one. It only draws satisfaction from the suffering of people on the “other side”. It is a nihilist hate movement and does little to hide it. But humanity has weathered worse. And as with other vile and disgusting phenomena that humanity has survived—one day this will also pass.
